With these benefits, customers experience high satisfaction—all at a competitive price point, making it a smart and cost-effective choice for your vehicle’s fire-suppression system.

Purple K: Dry Chemical Extinguishing Agent

Troman strives to recognize the environmental impacts of extinguishing agents. Our solution is Purple K, a fast, efficient, environmentally friendly fire suppression agent.

It is a potassium bicarbonate-based dry chemical agent that extinguishes by changing flame chemistry and cooling. Purple K suppresses Class B (petroleum, oil, lubricant) and Class C (electrical) fires by interrupting a fire’s chemical reaction and cooling the flame/hot surfaces (endothermic reactions and surface cooling).

Water-based extinguishing agents are undesirable for a Class B fire because they can spread the flames, and they are undesirable for a Class C fire due to potential shock hazards. That’s why the military uses Purple K—for its superior fire suppression capabilities in all situations.

Advantages of Purple K Over ABC

Purple K

  • This powder is known for its superior effectiveness on liquid and gas fires, outperforming many other agents due to its chemical makeup. It quickly smothers flames and creates a barrier to prevent re-ignition, which is why it’s often selected for areas with flammable liquids and gases.

  • Superior effectiveness on liquid fires; Quick suppression for high-risk areas; Minimal residue compared to ABC powder

ABC

  • ABC powder tends to leave a significant amount of residue, which can be damaging to electronics and surfaces if not cleaned promptly. For general settings, this isn’t typically an issue, but for environments with delicate equipment, it’s worth considering.

  • While ABC powder works well on liquid and electrical fires, it may be slightly less effective on flammable liquids than Purple-K.
