West Coast Sales Manager

Position Summary

Troman Industries, a leader in transit fire detection and onboard safety technology, is seeking an experienced West Coast Sales Manager to lead sales growth across the western U.S. transit, coach, and rail markets. This role is responsible for expanding market share, managing key agency and OEM relationships, supporting partner integrations (including CircuitLink), and driving adoption of Troman’s fire detection and notification solutions.

This is a remote field-sales role with approximately 50% travel to customer sites, OEMs, transit agencies, and industry events.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Revenue Growth

  • Develop and execute a regional sales strategy to meet and exceed quarterly and annual revenue targets.
  • Manage the full sales cycle: prospecting, qualification, technical presentations, proposals, and closing.
  • Grow Troman’s presence with transit agencies, bus OEMs, retrofit shops, and integrators across the West Coast.

Customer & Partner Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with procurement teams, maintenance managers, safety directors, and engineering personnel.
  • Lead customer demos, product presentations, and technical discussions around thermal detection, fire safety, and onboard systems.
  • Collaborate with partners like CircuitLink to support integrated product deployments and customer engagement.

Market Development

  • Identify new opportunities across public transit, private fleet, shuttle operators, and specialty vehicle markets.
  • Track regional market trends, regulations, and competitive activity, and report insights back to leadership.
  • Represent Troman Industries at trade shows, safety conferences, and transit association events.

Internal Collaboration

  • Work closely with engineering, product management, and marketing to ensure customer needs are communicated and met.
  • Provide regular forecasting, pipeline updates, and strategic input to executive leadership.
  • Support field deployments and pilot programs in coordination with technical support teams.

Job Requirements

Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in the transit industry (public transit, bus OEM, rail, or transit safety systems).
  • Proven track record in B2B technical sales, preferably with onboard systems, safety technology, electronics, or telematics.
  • Experience selling to or working with transit agencies and procurement groups.
  • Strong existing relationships within West Coast transit markets (preferred).

Skills & Competencies

  • Ability to present technical solutions clearly and credibly to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong prospecting skills and ability to independently build pipeline from the ground up.
  • High level of organization with CRM proficiency (Salesforce or similar).
  • Negotiation, proposal development, and contract management expertise.

Other Requirements

  • Must reside on the West Coast (CA, OR, WA, NV, AZ, or similar).
  • Ability to travel up to 50% across the region.
  • Self-directed, disciplined, and capable of working independently in a remote environment.
  • Clean driving record and ability to access secure transit facilities as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience selling in public transit.
  • Knowledge of Fire detection, thermal sensors, onboard safety/communication systems, or similar technologies.
  • Background working with integrators, OEMs, and fleet engineering teams.
  • Understanding of NFPA 130, FTA requirements, or transit safety standards.
